Name and Instrument:
Rod Teilmann - Bass guitar & Guitar
Backing vocals.
Birthday:
September 9th - Virgo
Old enough to be legal,
young enough to get it up…
Height:
6' = 181 cm
Favorite band:
Old school: KISS, Mötley Crüe, Pretty Boy Floyd, RATT, Scorpions, Judas Priest, OZZY, Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd, Rod Stewart, Sisters of Mercy.
New'er acts:
Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Avenged Sevenfold, Korn etc.
- I'm into a lot of different bands and artists. From Neil Young to Slayer.
But there's some genres/bands which I think is way too overrated, such as, for example, The Ramones and The Clash.
What a fucking shitload of crap! People wearing those band's merchandise just because its hip. It fucking bothers me. You simply wouldn't be wearing a t-shirt if
you have heard the music…
And if your just wearing the t-shirt to be recognized as “up-to-date” to others you are a fucking idiot!
I think it's much more “rock'n'roll” to be wearing something that you really like AND are aware that it's pissing people of. Like, being a ‘Rocker' and wearing an ABBA t-shirt for example…
That's the whole point. Being the nail in the eye…
B.T.W. does anyone have a vintage ABBA concert t-shirt for sale..
Hee hee!!!
Favorite Food:
Meat and Pasta.
I really enjoy the food of other cultures like Italian, Chinese and Mexican, but when it comes down to pick and choose I always pick plain potatoes, sauce and meat. In various forms.
McDonald's will do as well. No Burger King, though…
Favorite alcoholic beverage:
Whiskey and Coke. Icy cold beers like Millers and Budweiser's.
Favorite non-alcoholic beverage:
Cold milk served in a glass with ice.
How hardcore are you?
Mmmm, it's not really for me to be answering questions like this… Usually, your view
of yourself differs from how others see you. It's like, people pointing out all the time how happy they are, aren't usually the happy ones…
Anyhow, I'm a narcissistic bastard :- )
I started off as a boy hunting for autographs, waiting for hours during the cold, dark winter, outside the hotels.
I stopped searching for jobs 10 years ago since it only drains me out…
Would you die for your music?
I would.
How did you get your nickname?
You don't “get” a name like HOT ROD - You earn it :- )
I was given the nick name HOT Rod when I was playing in the American band Beautiful Creatures in Hollywood, the year 2000. One night outside a club our/their bass player Kenny Kweens introduced me to Paul Stanley (KISS) as “our new guitarist Rod, we're thinking about naming him ‘HOT Rod”.
- AND ‘HOT ROD' IT WAS.
How did you choose your instrument, and how old were you?
I must have been about 12-13 when I started to play the guitar. Electric guitar, of course! I totally skipped to whole basics about how to play. I just wanted to do heavy metal riffs all day long… Hee hee.
Judas Priest, Manowar, Iron Maiden, Kiss…etc
And I did ask my mum…
Later I switched to bass when a friend asked me to, since he got hybris and wanted to be the single guitarist in the band :- )
It worked out just fine. I was 17 when I picked up the bass.
- My guitar past came to use when I was handpicked as rhythm guitarist
in Beautiful Creatures' in 2000.
Who was your musical influence growing up?
Both my Dom and Dad are rockers, so I was raised with tons of music as background.
Very early I got introduced to the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Elvis, Bob Marley etc…
My very first idols were the Swedish super group ABBA :- ) Then quickly switched to KISS and hard rock.
- Kiss saved me from the damn sports and Mötley Crüe made me wanna live my life as a rolling stone…
If you could put together a fantasy tour, who would you want to tour with?
KISS
Mötley Crüe
Marilyn Manson
Gemini Five
Briefly describe each of your fellow band mates:
Slim Pete: A cool breeze of the band. Photogenic and polite
rocker whom keep up the solid beat of the band.
Snoopy: A wild at heart rock & roll-gangster. Loads of ‘baggage' which will make you blush :- )
Tin Star: A hardworking Love-Rocker, whom is blessed with
the talent of being an unbelievable composer 24/7.
Do you like Swedish Massages? :-)
Swedish massage is something I don't mind at all. IT just doesn't't NECESSARILY mean the girl's have to be Swedish, but she must have had done her homework well….
What's your most embarrassing moment on stage?
I'm not the type that gets embarrassed by most things but I can tell you a funny story from our tour in Europe in 2004 when we were supporting Hardcore Superstar;
-
On the very last show in Haarlem, Holland, the guys in HCSS and the crew put some black grease on to my microphone's black foam cover.
Now, the grease from the microphone smeared out on my upper lip from singing
in the microphone and made this Hitler-looking mustache on me…
So there I stood with my bangs combed to one side and pointing my right
arm straight out during the song “24/7? (me and Tin always do that during the chorus) and looking like a mad Nazi-wannabe, and I had absolutely no idea what
everybody was staring at. Not to tell how all the guys were laughing their lungs
out…
FUNNY like hell!
What interview question do you hate being asked?
‘Hate' is a strong word here, but being asked to tell our (Gemini Five's) story from scratch when we've been around for 2 albums by now. It really annoys me when an
interviewer/journalist gets to do an interview without doing their research themselves. How hard can it be?
Personal motto:
Live Your dream and die a free spirit.
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers…
(ROFL)
You're obviously the “spokesman” for the band; how come the others are so “quiet”?
That's not true. There is no particular front man/spokesman for Gemini Five. Its “All for one - one for all”. Usually, Tin Star and myself split the interviews between us
since the journalists seem to approach us first. Also Snoopy is doing a lot of interviews. The ‘quiet' one among us four is Slim Pete. He's not interested in getting his voice and opinions shattered around. But ask him and he's happy to be answering any questions.
Some people like to speak fondly of them selves, others not.
What inspired you to get so many tattoos, and how many do you have?
1 big tattoo!!!
I was brought into the full-blown LA glam/scene in the 80's, and sometime during that era I knew as a kid that I would be wearing loads of tattoos. The more I was getting into the whole tattoo artist scene the more I got caught up in the traditional Japanese full-sleeve art.
What's your favorite?
My favorite design is my back piece, done in 36 hours spread over each Monday evening, for 12 weeks. Myself and the artist, Per Soovik, designed the artwork together in the year 1999-2000. But I would never put myself through it again!!!
Not the design , the pain of getting it done of course :- )
And finally, do you have any ideas for a fan tattoo.
I like to think that the choice of tattoos is personal and reflects you…
Go for something personal and remember, it's skin-deep.
Please, don't go for “the tribal ornament” in/on your swank…
Its so brain dead!!!
Message to the fans:
I'm so pleased that we are on the same boat.
Ups and downs together.
Lets make the best of this journey.
I'm hereby inviting everyone for a drink after the shows.
Cheerz!!!
